Sightseeing in West Dallas

Sightseeing in West Dallas

Singleton Boulevard on a Monday evening.

Been to West Dallas lately?

My day started with a quick visit to my favorite camera shop located in downtown Dallas (Competitive Camera). I caught rush hour on my way out of downtown and decided to take the scenic way out. I decided to go toward West Dallas and head southward home. Once I saw how nice the light was I pulled over and explored a little bit. West Dallas used to be an area that seemed to be losing businesses and now it seems that it has really boomed within the last few years. The Margaret Hill Hunt Bridge is now built and there is a beautiful park area and Trinity Groves for shopping and eating. If you ever visit this place you will notice a ton of people taking pictures of the bridge and the Dallas skyline. I have to admit that I enjoyed capturing a few shots while I was here.

West Dallas isn’t what it used to be. There have been major renovations and massive amounts of energy flowing through there as you can see with the amount of power lines running through this busy area.

Trinity Groves now has several restaurants and retail areas. These businesses have revitalized this corner.

There is nothing wrong with improvement so long as the neighborhood improves with it but it seems that the improvements have been on the main road, Singleton Blvd.

I got my shots of the bridge but I wanted to capture what is happening on the other side. This is where things got interesting. One side of a street corner is revitalized and right across the street is not (the 2 pictures below are of the same street corner, just different angles).

As I travel a few blocks into the neighborhood I notice that the revitalization is happening on Singleton Blvd, but not the neighborhoods themselves. A new apartment living complex is going up but the older neighborhoods across the street don't seem to be affected..

The improvement shows vision, I just hope that the residents of West Dallas experience some of the improvements as well.
