My hope is to reach as many people as possible and provide imagery that will stand the test of time.

San Antonio Dreamin' on a Such a Summer's Day

San Antonio Dreamin' on a Such a Summer's Day

Market Square in Downtown San Antonio

Market Square in Downtown San Antonio

We travel to San Antonio almost every year and we love the Market Square. From the street vendors, shopping, and live music to the amazing Mi Tierra restaurant with its 24 hour bakery. I have a weakness for pan dulce (mexican sweet bread). Don’t forget to stop by the Fruteria Cano for some fresh fruit refreshments.

San Antonio is of course much hotter than Dallas but there is something about the culture in San Antonio that seems to attract my wife and I to keep going back. Our usual routine is to arrive at the hotel in downtown, drop our bags, and head out walking to the Market Square. Depending on the time of day we would then eat at Mi Tierra and then walk around some more. The buildings in San Antonio are magnificent and historic pieces of architecture. You may know at little about me and what I enjoy photographing so it won’t come to surprise you that I love walking around San Antonio and getting pictures along the way. I still haven’t fulfilled my Dallas goals but stay tuned.

Go to the Alamo at night, but not to see the Alamo. The haunted Menger Hotel is right next door and is an amazing piece of architecture. Then walk a little further to the Emily Morgan hotel. We missed the haunted tours but if you hang around at night you can eavesdrop some of the tour guides giving a little history lesson.

Oh and by the way, don’t forget to stop by the original Rudy’s Barbeque in San Antonio (24152 Interstate 10 in Leon Springs) for the “worst BBQ in Texas”. Don’t be discouraged by the line, it goes quick and get there early because the ribs go quick too.

One day I’ll walk through San Antonio neighborhoods and capture the history there as well. But first I have to capture Dallas as much as I can and then I’ll move from there. My goal is to create collections of work and eventually publish a photo book of the city. Yes, I know, it’s been done. But not by me so stay in touch and keep reading. There is hardly (or not any) a market for photo books, but this is something that I will do for me. They aren’t cheap but I’ll figure it out.

Thanks for reading. Let me know if there is a city you are in love with, perhaps I’ll show up and capture the essence of it too.
