San Antonio Walk About
This series of images is from the same trip that we visited Mission San José. It felt appropriate to keep this separate since this was based on downtown San Antonio. Of course there were churches but all of the architecture in the city was beautiful as well.
We made time to walk around downtown San Antonio and enjoy the views. The downtown architecture is beautiful. I’m from Dallas Texas, born and raised, and I have walked downtown Dallas over the years. Even as a kid going to elementary school in downtown I walked to my mom’s job clear across downtown. I took the bus sometimes but I walked often. I know Dallas has awesome views too but I am attracted to the history that seems to be restored in the downtown San Antonio area.
We have visited San Antonio so many times but we always focused on the food and festivities side of things. We had never seen the Veterans Memorial Plaza or even heard about it. It was amazing. Seeing the memorial bricks really brought home the fact that the soldiers that gave their lives were not just soldiers, but dear family members. Reading through these: Husband, Our Son, Grandpa, My Dad, Pa in Law. These bricks gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes just thinking about the sacrifices that not only the soldier makes but the families themselves.
Walking the streets of San Antonio felt peaceful, even during the hustle and bustle of rush hour for some reason. Perhaps, due to the fact that I wasn’t in a hurry, didn’t have a schedule to wrap up, we just . . . walked.
Images were shot with a Sony a6300 and kit lens. I didn’t take any expensive glass (lenses) on this trip and I had time to focus on the views. (pardon the pun)
